We spent some time on the weekend working on the Christmas display. We managed to get the Nativity scene done. It is the first thing we put up every year. It was a cool day -8 C with a bit of a wind.
We set down this platform made from old fence boards for the base. The blow molds are on top of plastic milk crates that are bolted to the platform.
I use two pieces of burlap to hide the tacky milk crates. Actually painters drop cloths that I have used for 5 years now and they are still going strong.
Don't the blow molds look like they have skis on?? Those skis are bolted to the tops of the milk crates and to the blow molds. Everything is very sturdy.
All the cords are to the back of the display attached to two power bars. Since we can get lots of snow here we are careful to cover and secure the power bars.
I was lucky to find 2 more angels this summer so had to make the display a bit bigger. I can never seem to pass up a blow mold of any kind!
We have the base set up for the other blow molds, and will share pictures when that is complete.
I was in the snow so much today I soaked right through my pair of runners and well as my winter boots. I remembered my Mom's trick from when I was little. She would put a used, but clean bread bag over my feet to keep them dry. Well since I do not save bread bags I used Ziplock freezer bags, worked just as I remembered!! Did your Mom do that too?
Until next time....
Happy Decorating!!!
