The Week

Ahh, where to start....
A truck load was taken to the auction house yesterday, OS & Hubby did the deed. I spent days and days washing and sorting.
The extra large and deep sink sure came in handy. Happy to have more "stuff" gone. Our items will be in two different sales, antiques & collectibles and toys. I will do an update when it is all sold.
Now to get ready with another load to take to a different auction. I need a holiday :)

It had been cold and windy, even the dog wants to stay inside. We are -18 C right now, so not too bad for the day, temps are to start dropping through out the week. There was some rain on Saturday as well.

I have been having issues since the first week of December. Went to see the Doctor last Wednesday and he got all up in my business....if you know what I mean. He almost had to peel me off the ceiling. No fun. Had blood work done on Thursday...7 vials...like really???? I did get a sticker so kinda makes up for it. Took her two tries. Then on Friday to the big City for a series of Ultra Sounds and X-Rays. More up close and personal....I have a results appointment tomorrow. Am I concerned? Yes, yes I am.

I am so grateful to have such a good Doctor, he listens and hears! Also for our health care system, which people seem to think is free here in Canada, but is paid for by tax payers.

Prayers are appreciated....

Until Next Time...

Sideboard Re-Do

I have had this sideboard for about 15 years or so. It has moved with us twice, great size with plenty of storage. This is how it has looked for all those years...

It is a "married" piece, the top is not original, but a leaf from a table. Awful red paint/stain..not really sure on the top. I always had it covered so it did not bother me too much.

Mhhh...after one coat of white Chalk paint. My brush was pink by the time I was done. The paint was pulling up the red.

Time for better coverage....good old Acrylic (water based) craft paint. I have had the Black so long it is runny like water. Mixed up a saucer full of a pretty grey. I make more than I need as I can never make the same colour twice.

Much better, one thick coat for full coverage.
After letting it dry I gave it a quick sanding with fine grit sand paper. The top is smooth like butter.

I decided to only add a stencil to the bottom corners.

Using just the black and white paint again, I mixed a very light grey. Not very fond of the sponge brush thingy.

Before the final sanding.

Much better with the red top gone! I will wait till the whole piece is redone before I wax the top.....in case I change my mind lol. Deciding on what to do to the rest of it. I have to dig out my hoard of handles and see what I have. Stain, paint or maybe just oil it. Any thoughts?

Until next time.....

Thrifty Finds

Went to the monthly market last Saturday. Not as many tables as last month, but still found a few things.
Vintage Caro heart pendant watch. After some cleaning it just shines. Bonus is that the watch works and keeps perfect time. 17 Jewels Swiss Made is on the face.
The pendant is a nice size, about 1 1/2 inches wide and long. Paid 2.00
While not Vintage, this lia sophia necklace is pretty, I will get lots of use from it.
I pick up any of this brand when I find it at a good price, it is a good seller in lots.
Still needs a good cleaning. Paid 2.00
Now isn't this exciting lol. I pay 1.25 plus 5% tax for this at the Ain't Nothing A Dollar Tree store. It was at the pet rescue table, so gave them a loonie....still a bit of a bargain for me and every little bit helps the rescue.
I look forward to this sale every month, lots of different sellers and stuff!

Until Next Time...
Happy Thrifty Hunting!!!

Why Wait

Have spent the last day or so sorting items for the auction.
I bought this lot of Barbie items and a few boxes of dolls at auction in October of 2015.
Apparently I was in no rush to look through them :)

Super tiny zipper!

This will be added to the Barbie Camper.

Even Barbie poops :)

Pair of Vintage children's handkerchiefs.

I was very surprised when I opened the last case. 8 soft vinyl vintage dolls. Moody Cuties I believe. One is marked YSC JAPAN, another Hong Kong and two others marked with variations of Korea.

Speaking of waiting......my Husband usually picks up the mail on his way home from work. I always ask if I got a cheque...an on going joke.

I was sorting out junk mail the other day and came across an unopened envelope. Well well, it was a cheque for almost 60.00, apparently back in the day we were over charged interest on a credit card. We have not had a card with them for about 8 years. It is dated August of 2018...hopefully the bank will still take it.
Has this ever happened to you?

Until Next Time......
Wishing you all a happy surprise!!!

January Catch Up

Already more than week into 2019!

Christmas was great, spent it with family which I am so grateful for.
The plastic wrap ball was a big hit, lots of laughs. Remember the cobs of corn? Well...they are gross...absolutely gag inducing when opened...the smell. The youngest son unwrapped them from the ball.
Husband took a small bite and declared "tastes like canned corn" ewww.

We had some family in for Boxing Day. We had a very relaxing and laid back Christmas, it was so nice.

We celebrated out 31st wedding Anniversary on the 30th of December. As always, very low keyed. We are long past the stage of exchanging gifts or cards. We did go out for supper a few days before, Steak & Lobster....it was yummy.

Hubby took a weeks holiday over Christmas, so we had some time to do a little kitchen refresh.

We replaced the old stainless steel sink with this one. It is deep and extra large. The hardware store had a great sale on, 50% off. Took us about 5 hours to install it, the counter top needed to be cut to be able to fit it. Also there were no water shut offs under the sink, so that took some time for Hubby to install them. The taps we had bought NIB (new in box) at an auction sale, we paid $10 for them, they are online ranging in price from $499.00 - $269.00, so we scored on that purchase. Was not too sure if I wanted the soap dispenser installed or not since the one I had in our previous house could only be refilled by removing the bottle from under the sink....I am getting too old for that! This one fills from above which makes much more sense. The water here is horrible, leaving the old sink stained.
Happy to see that sink gone!!

There was a great sale of 25% off handles, so we replaced all 40 of them in the kitchen. See a theme developing here lol. Going with black accents with all the oak. The old handles were oak and brass, and grubby from years of use.
Once the "sunshine ceiling" is removed we will be adding black trim to the cabinets.
We have had some cold days -25C, pretty but cold. I was on FB and saw a post about "whore frost".....umm thinking they meant hoarfrost lol.

We completed another puzzle, we picked up a few after Boxing Day for 50% off.

The next couple of weeks is going to be busy for me. We are taking a truck load to a Antique & Collectible Auction, so have lots to sort through and clean up. I will be sure to share pictures.

Will also be switching around some rooms: moving the spare bedroom to the basement, my "selling room" from the basement to the upstairs old spare bedroom, all the Christmas treasures into the old "selling room". I want it done, just not by me lol. Will share the progress with you all.

Until Next Time.....
Live Long & Prosper!!!!
