Auction Update for Estate Buy Out

Finally received the cheque from the last Auction Sale. Canada Post is on a rotating strike. We had taken most of what was left from the Estate we had purchased. Some thing went fairly high and others, well...not so good.

No pictures to show, but will tell you all about a few highlights and low lights.
Clamps were a big hit, as well as flats of misc. nut and bolts and other odd and random garage/shop items.
Furniture was a complete and total bust, rocking chair only went for a couple of dollars, a coffee table even ended up in the "no sale" pile.
There are still a few furniture pieces left, I will save them till the new year.
All in all I am happy with what was made, even happier it all gone and that we are so close to being in profit that I can taste it.

Remember the Halloween dance I had mentioned? About 7 of us showed up Friday evening to do the set up. Can you believe it, in less than an hour the tables and chairs were all arranged, tablecloths and table decorations as well. The complete hall and entry way were also decorated, including the walls. 75 goodie bags for the littles were filled as well. Amazing teamwork!!

Saturday evening was a huge success!! Probably about 200 people attended this first time family event. I was amazed at the turnout, I had 50 in my head for some reason...silly me. Once again the teamwork was amazing. We started stacking chairs and breaking down the tables and decorations around midnight, the hall was completely cleaned, garbage done, floors swept and mopped, bathrooms scrubbed and kitchen nice and shiny by ten after 1. All this by the same crew as on Friday. There were a couple of extra people, one provided Music (with the halp of his grandchildren) one worked the table for ticket sales and another helped at the bar. What a great group of people!!
Nice to know that so many people donated door prizes and even money to kick start this event. All proceeds stay in the community.

I was bushed by the end of the evening I tell you. I slept like a rock.

Until next time....
Happy Hunting!!

Random

This was taken a month or so ago...farmers are still in the fields trying to get the crops off, the weather is finally cooperating.

Sun is setting so early now, I will miss the long days.

We gave away a massive yard light, truck canopy and a tire. Pretty random stuff, nice to have it gone. It was part of the end of garage sale buy out we did earlier this summer. I think there is only a few things left.

I have taken this week "off" from selling on FB. I need a break from all the cleaning, taking pictures, posting and meet ups. It can become all consuming and I have to take a step back every so often.

Records...really, what can I say. We have finally finished sorting them alphabetically. Days and days of my life that I will never get back! Oh, and we are picking up another truck load tonite. Sometimes I think I was dropped on my head as a baby.

Another busy weekend ahead as well, Friday helping to set up for a Halloween dance then Saturday going to the dance.

Blogs. I really really like reading blogs, some I have for years. I am always sad when one disappears or becomes inactive. I prefer a Blog over tweeter or any other platform. There are some Blogs that I have stopped reading for a variety of reasons.
I was a dedicated reader of one until it became almost all political, a Canadian talking about American politics...all the time.
The pop up ads are driving me around the bend, open a Blog on an ipad, all that you are able to see are ads, subscribe here, ads and more ads.
I close and move on, no time for that.
Sponsored posts....now seriously I will not be surprised to have a blogger "sharing their experiences with a condom that the company provided but their thoughts are their own" geeze...enough already people.
I get that blogging is a full time job for many, but why does it have to be so in your face. Maybe I am getting old.

The weather has been beautiful, time to get the windows done for the last time of the year.

Will start digging out all the Christmas lights, takes a day or two to test them all and do any repairs that need doing. It is to stay nice for the next week or so. If we really push ourselves we can get everything, house and yard done in the three days, mind you 10 hour days lol.

So how was that for random, not bad at all.

This blog will never become political or sponsored, that I promise.

Until next time......

Vintage Finds #1

Vintage Finds #1

Welcome to the first in the series of Vintage Finds.

Remember the Auction Sale I was telling you all about? The one where we took a trailer load of stuff to sell? Well a person cannot come home empty handed!

I had no idea that Singer ever made Radios, learn something new every day.

I gave it a quick cleaning. It sounds pretty good.

Once again I found what I like to call Instant Ancestors, only three this time, well maybe two when I look more closely.

The clasp is beautiful

Love the raised Oak leaf

Folds out from the center, maybe it was made to be displayed this way.

There's Grandma!!

That makes three that I have bought.....does that mean it's a collection??

Until next time...
Happy Hunting!!

I Can't Help Myself....

I can't seem to help myself....I see Vintage Christmas or Blow Molds and I loose all self control...do I feel bad...well...kinda sorta not really.

I have been slowly adding to my collection of table top Blow Molds, these were in a lot buy that I did. My brother in law was selling almost all of his Christmas stuff, and he called me...so who am I to say no???

It was a nice day for a drive anyways and got to visit for a bit, so win win!

We could not have fit one more thing in the truck, the box was loaded as well as the back seat. I will not be keeping everything, only what goes with our outdoor display. I think Mickey Mouse is cute, but does not fit the vibe we are going for.

Cute eh?

Until next time.....

What Sold #3

What Sold #3

Sold more from the Estate we purchased a couple of months ago. Nothing worth showing pictures of though. Lots of tools went, which was nice to have the space back in the garage. The remainder of the household furniture went to Auction this past week end, as well as more garage items. I will do an Auction update of what sold in a few weeks when we get the cheque, going by our numbers I think we did quite well.

I sold this metal and wicker organizer, NIB.  It was in that tote of Christmas that I bought at the Auction.

I picked up these Halloween blow molds this summer at two different sales. I was kinda on the fence about keeping them or not, common sense prevailed and I sold them.

Have also been selling LP's, have not even made a dent in all that was bought. I think I will be 100 before they are all sold!

I was also busy buying at the Auction this past Saturday.

The above was in a large trunk shaped tote....I have to stop buying those (not likely ha)

This Elf is adorable, he looks so smug. I wonder what was in his hand?

More Vintage glass Christmas ornaments to add to my ever growing collection. These were the first items up for bid at the Auction, they were in a large shoe box mixed with all sorts of Christmas ornaments. I was super surprised to find the horn. There was also a bird, but sadly he was broken.

I always wonder about the "story" behind the items at Auction sales. Written on the side of the shoe box is:

"To Kathy These are for Kathy When I'm gone Love Gram"

Who was Kathy, how did these end up at an auction sale? Did Kathy even know about these?

A person we were talking to at the Auction was telling us that she had purchased a box full of random items. When sorting through it she found photo albums, and in one of the albums there was also a Marriage Certificate. By doing a little digging she was able to return the albums, the Marriage Cert. and many of the other items she bought to the family. The story was that an elderly lady had passed and her sister hauled EVERYTHING to Auction without letting the rest of the family know or even giving them the opportunity to have a keepsake. An act of spite was erased by the kindness of a stranger.

What are your Auction stories, I would love to hear them.

Until next time.....
Happy Hunting!!

Oh no!

Oh no what have we done....

The last week has been a whirlwind. We went to look at a friends record collection. He has decided to downsize and only keep two copies of every record he has!! I know right?

For some reason we bought all that he was getting rid of, 26 large boxes or so. The truck was full, the cab included. We took the dog along for a ride, poor girl was squashed in the back seat.

Records are a easy seller for me, there are many collectors in this area.  But lots of work to clean and photograph. I have started a FB page in an effort to sell them faster, so wish me luck. I have already sold a few, my next post will be all about what sold in the last couple of weeks.

After unloading all the records we decided to check out a country Garage Sale. Like I needed to buy anything else after all those records!

Only came home with this. A beautiful addition to my ceramic tree collection. She is massive, almost 19 inches tall.

She road on my lap all the way home down the bumpy gravel road.

Until next time......

Happy Hunting!
