Thrifty Christmas Crafting

I picked up the two small (6x8) canvas prints at the Dollar Tree for 1.25 each.I wasn't sure what I was going to do with them, but they caught my eye. The words are glittered, and I love anything shiny lol. Then it hit me why not try the same technique as the lighted gift bags with these. Well...it worked.
I used a 20 string of clear battery operated LED lights, bought at the Dollar Store for 2.00. These have a 6 hour timer, which is the best thing ever, turn them on once and forget about them.
I have this kit in the house, I keep it filled with all the little bits and pieces that I always seem to need. After cutting the strings off the canvas I added a saw tooth hanger to the back of each using small nails. I used duct tape to secure the canvases together. I did not want to fool around with nails or glue to do this. Plus I was not sure if this would work, so did not want to damage the canvas prints at all.

Using cheap clear tape I taped down the lights to the back of the canvas. that is the longest part, flipping back an forth deciding where to place them. The battery pack was the same depth of the canvas, I used some duct tape to secure it to the frame.

The only thing I would do differently is to decide where to put the lights before adding the battery pack.

All lite up!! Sorry for the poor picture, my lack of camera skills and awful lighting in this house! They are much much prettier in person.

I cannot be the only person that has a Christmas tree in the bathroom can I??? :)
This is a very quick and easy craft to do. Also a very thrifty gift idea..2.00 for the lights, 1.25 for each canvas, two batteries, tape and a couple of hangers. I figure about 6.00 total. The tape and lights can be removed, so the pictures can be used again.

Until next time....
Happy Thrifty Christmas Crafting!!!
